These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Lightline Labs LLC ("Lightline Labs," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the StackTheVerse iOS app, website, public poem pages, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.
2. The Service
StackTheVerse lets people arrange book titles into poems, publish and share those poems, remix public poems into connected chains, save a local on-device library, and optionally order physical merchandise bearing poem artwork. Features may change, be suspended, or be discontinued.
No account is required. The My Poems library is stored locally on your device and may be lost if you delete the app, erase the device, or lose access to it. We do not promise backup or synchronization of local content.
3. Publishing and public content
Publishing is optional. When you publish a poem, it becomes publicly accessible and may be indexed, linked, shared, displayed, and remixed by others. Do not include personal or confidential information that you do not want made public.
You retain any rights you have in original content that you submit. You grant Lightline Labs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, distribute, and create technical adaptations of that content as necessary to operate, promote, secure, and improve the Service. This license continues for public copies and remix-chain integrity to the extent reasonably necessary after a removal request.
Book titles, author names, trademarks, and other third-party material remain the property of their respective owners. StackTheVerse's reference to a book does not imply endorsement by its author or publisher.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- submit unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative, defamatory, deceptive, or privacy-invasive content;
- infringe copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other rights;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent affiliation;
- upload malicious code, probe security, disrupt the Service, or evade access controls;
- automate access in a way that burdens the Service or scrape it for unauthorized commercial use;
- manipulate commerce, payment, affiliate, or fulfillment systems; or
- encourage others to do any of the above.
We may remove content, restrict access, preserve evidence, or contact authorities when we reasonably believe it is necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people or the Service, or comply with law. To report content, email david@lightlinelab.com with the poem link or identifier and the reason for your report.
5. Physical merchandise
Merchandise checkout is provided through Shopify and fulfillment is provided through Printful. Product availability, pricing, taxes, shipping charges, delivery estimates, return eligibility, and other order details are shown during checkout or by the seller of record. Colors and print placement may differ slightly from an on-screen preview.
You authorize us and our service providers to use the submitted poem artwork to produce and deliver the item you order. You represent that your order and artwork comply with these Terms and do not violate another person's rights.
Physical merchandise is not digital app content and is not purchased through Apple's in-app purchase system. For order help, contact david@lightlinelab.com with your order number.
6. Affiliate links
StackTheVerse includes links to books sold by third parties. Some are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Lightline Labs LLC earns from qualifying purchases. Following a link or making a purchase is optional, does not change the price you pay, and is governed by the third party's terms and privacy policy.
7. Third-party services
The Service depends on or links to third parties such as Apple, Supabase, Vercel, Shopify, Printful, and Amazon. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their independent acts, content, availability, or terms. Your use of a third-party service may be governed by a separate agreement with that provider.
8. Intellectual property and feedback
Except for user content and third-party material, the Service—including its software, design, branding, and original content—is owned by Lightline Labs or its licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the Service for personal, lawful purposes under these Terms.
If you provide feedback, you grant us permission to use it without restriction or compensation, though we are not required to do so.
9. Copyright concerns
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to david@lightlinelab.com containing: your contact information; identification of the copyrighted work; the location of the allegedly infringing material; a statement of good-faith belief; a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act; and your physical or electronic signature.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIGHTLINE LABS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT LOCAL CONTENT WILL BE PRESERVED.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIGHTLINE LABS AND ITS MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID DIRECTLY TO LIGHTLINE LABS THROUGH THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.
12. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lightline Labs and its members, employees, contractors, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your order artwork, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or another person's rights.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in New York County, New York will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days.
14. Changes and general terms
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. Your continued use after the update means you accept the revised Terms. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, sale, or similar transaction.
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Lightline Labs regarding the Service, except for terms presented at checkout or by a third-party provider.
